George E. Luther, CRIS

George joined SMC in September 2009 as Vice President with more than 18 years experience in risk management and insurance services, responsible for business development, risk management, market relationships and marketing and heads the firm's IT internal development programs. Prior to joining the firm, George was an executive for more than six years with Allied North America, where he developed and maintained client relationships, reviewed insurance programs for proper coverage and implement risk transfer programs. At that firm, George developed a strong knowledge base and clientele in a variety of industries, including commercial and residential construction companies, distributors of auto parts and machine shops for medical devices and computer components to name a few. George has a strong expertise in specialized risk transfer and management with a thorough understanding of coverage placement throughout the insurance industry.

A graduate of Saint Leo University, St. Leo, Florida where he majored in Computer Information Systems, George began his career in Florida, developing an extensive background in personal lines and commercial insurance. While attending college, George utilized his information technology skills by working for Silicon Graphics as a system administration for their education department. George also holds a designation in Construction Risk and Insurance Specialists (CRIS) and is a candidate for an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification. Active in many industry associations such as the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), the Oakland Builders Alliance (OBA) and the Engineering & Utility Contractors Association (EUCA), George is also a Board Member of the Livermore's Chamber of Commerce and Associated Builders and Contractors and resides in that community with his wife Catherine and his two sons Alexander and Nicholas.
